By Sarah Palin

Given that we’re spending billions of stimulus dollars to rebuild our highways, it makes sense to think about what we’ll be driving on them. For years to come, most of what we drive will be powered, at least in part, by diesel fuel or gasoline. To fuel that driving, we need access to oil. The less use we make of our own reserves, the more we will have to import, which leads to a number of harmful consequences. That means we need to drill here and drill now.

We rely on petroleum for much more than just powering our vehicles: It is essential in everything from jet fuel to petrochemicals, plastics to fertilizers, pesticides to pharmaceuticals. According to the Energy Information Administration, our total domestic petroleum consumption last year was 19.5 million barrels per day (bpd). Motor gasoline and diesel fuel accounted for less than 13 million bpd of that. Meanwhile, we produced only 4.95 million bpd of domestic crude. In other words, even if we ran all our vehicles on something else (which won’t happen anytime soon), we would still have to depend on imported oil. And we’ll continue that dependence until we develop our own oil resources to their fullest extent.

New Ad: Meet The Face Of The Republican Party – Sarah Palin

As Palin Steps Down, Ad Asks Congress: Do You Stand With Palin Or With New Clean Energy Jobs?

A new 30-second television ad, released today, reintroduces Americans to the new face of the Republican Party’s opposition to clean energy jobs – formerGovernor Sarah Palin. The ad, “New Face”, comes on the heels of Palin’s last day as Governor of Alaska and two weeks after Sarah Palin’s recent attack on the energy bill, which ran in The Washington Post on July 14th. As the energy bill moves to the Senate, MoveOn.org Political Action’s ad asks Congress if they stand with Sarah Palin or for new clean energy jobs.

The ad will run on national cable for one week.

“Sarah Palin has a lot more free time on her hands now, and it appears she’s decided to lead the Republican Party in attacking a strong clean energy jobs plan that could jump start our economy and create millions of jobs,” said Justin Ruben, Executive Director of MoveOn.org. “Congress needs to think long and hard about whose side they’re on: Sarah Palin’s or the millions of Americans who would benefit from the creation of green jobs.”

This ad is part of MoveOn’s larger campaign to ensure a strong energy bill that fosters green job growth and does not repeal a key provision of the Clean Air Act. The campaign has included both national and local advertising, field actions and lobbying activities.

MoveOn.org Political Action is a political action committee powered by five million progressive Americans. We believe in the power of small donors and grassroots action to elect progressive leaders to office and to advance a progressive agenda. We do not accept any donations over $5,000, and the average donation to MoveOn.org Political Action is under $100.

Moveon.org and their ilk stand to make money if Cap and Tax were to pass. The average person though has lots to lose, up to hundreds of dollars every month in increased home energy costs, increased gas prices, and overall higher costs of groceries and other goods as the companies that pay more for energy will pass their costs onto the consumer.

All of us who follow Palin know that she is pro clean energy and pro job creation especially by the private sector. She has championed the AGIA gas pipeline which will supply much needed energy and jobs to Americans while making sure it was the private sector that put up the money for it.

So who do you side with?

Contact your congressman and senator today and say NO to Cap and Trade.

Then show Moveon.org what you think of them using Palin in their campaign by throwing a couple of bucks in the jar over at Sarahpac.com

Below is Moveon.org’s commercial featuring Palin.

Politics: John Kerry, replying to an op-ed Sarah Palin wrote on cap-and-trade, suggests the Alaska governor “check the view from her front porch.” What she sees from there, senator, is energy wealth going to waste.

The political death of Sarah Palin has been greatly exaggerated. In a devastating op-ed in the Washington Post, Alaska’s governor exposes the cap-and-tax fraud that has nothing to do with earth’s temperature and everything to do with government control of the economy.

She also exposes the stealth socialism ambitions of the Democratic left and once again points out the availability of abundant “shovel-ready” resources under America’s soil, off America’s shores and even in America’s rocks.

Do they really believe the thinking people can’t see through this barrage of garbage? Are they that out of touch with what the average normal person is about. Do they really feel they can continue to insult people and we’ll just go with it?

It would appear that it’s worked so far for their voting block. I guess those folks like people to tell them what to think and what to do. By the looks of it, it doesn’t matter if you win an election on merit. It only matters that you win. Even if the person you’ve elected is the biggest mistake since the likes of Jimmy Carter.

I wonder if the Obama voters will think he is cool (cool is what they were told to think remember) in say two years from now when he is still jetting around on the taxpayer dollar. When groceries cost twice as much as they do now. And gosh I don’t even want to think about the other stuff that could come to pass.

I believe most of Obama’s voters don’t remember Carter. I was just a kid then but I do recall during Carter’s administration, grocery stores came up with a special aisle in the store. It was filled with boxes and cans in white packages with black letters; it was called generic items! Generic groceries were of the lowest quality and price, just a sign of those times. A bad memory indeed! I wonder what our kids will remember about the Obama years? And if it will be as cool as those generic groceries?

Crack open a cold one… here’s to newsletters, Carter, Obama and tasty generic beer.

Statement from Governor Sarah Palin in regards to Michael Steele

The transition from Candidate Obama to President Obama has been as predictable as Alaska’s winter snow.

We are now witnessing actions that will lead to a monumental shift away from free market capitalism and the strong work ethic that built this great country. ‘Change’ in this administration has meant rapid movement toward massive government growth, huge tax burdens on future generations, and an unprecedented reliance upon foreign countries.

Today, we learned that Obama’s decisions continue to impact Alaskans; while we as taxpayers now own General Motors, Obama closes another dealership – this time in Soldotna as more of Alaskans’ hard-earned money and jobs are lost to big government. Government should not be in the auto industry business. In Alaska, we have also seen a shift in federal priorities that threaten the loss of subsidized village health care services under the same candidate who led you to believe he’d insure all Americans. The inconsistent messages and actions are unsettling.

But we have another voice in Washington, DC – a man who understands what Alaskans believe: less centralized government control, restrained budgets, more opportunity for development, and fewer taxes.
If ever there was an election that was not worth winning, it was the contest of 2008. While it was hard-fought on both sides, had McCain won, it might have spelled the end of the Republican Party. As it is, the party is well-situated to come back in 2010 and in 2012, if it learns the lessons of this year.

Simply put, all hell is about to break loose in the markets and the economy. The mortgage crisis will likely be followed by defaults in credit card debt, student loans and car loans. We will probably be set for two years of zero growth, according to economists with whom I talk. And the federal efforts to protect the nation from the worst of the recession will probably lead to huge budget deficits and resulting inflation. We are in for stagflation that could last for years. Continue reading…

To: STATE EDITORS

Contact: Mike Carey, president, Ohio Coal Association, +1-614-228-6336, (office), +1-614-264-1694, (mobile)

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire–USNewswire/ — Mike Carey, president of the Ohio Coal Association (OCA), today issued the following statement in response to just-released remarks from Senator Barack Obama about the nation’s coal industry.

“Regardless of the timing or method of the release of these remarks, the message from the Democratic candidate for President could not be clearer: the Obama-Biden ticket spells disaster for America’s coal industry and the tens of thousands of Americans who work in it.

“These undisputed, audio-taped remarks, which include comments from Senator Obama like ‘I haven’t been some coal booster’ and ‘if they want to build [coal plants], they can, but it will bankrupt them’ are extraordinarily misguided.

“It’s evident that this campaign has been pandering in states like Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana and Pennsylvania to attempt to generate votes from coal supporters, while keeping his true agenda hidden from the state’s voters.

“Senator Obama has revealed himself to be nothing more than a short- sighted, inexperienced politician willing to say anything to get a vote. But today, the nation’s coal industry and those who support it have a better understanding of his true mission, to ‘bankrupt’ our industry, put tens of thousands out of work and cause unprecedented increases in electricity prices.

“In addition to providing an affordable, reliable source of low-cost electricity, domestic coal holds the key to our nation’s long-term energy security – a goal that cannot be overlooked during this time of international instability and economic uncertainty.

“Few policy areas are more important to our economic future than energy issues. As voters head to the polls tomorrow, it is essential they remember that access to reliable, affordable, domestic energy supplies is essential to economic growth and stability.”

The Ohio Coal Association (OCA) is a non-profit trade association representing the interests of Ohio’s underground and surface coal mining producers. The OCA represents nearly 40 coal producing companies and more than 50 Associate Members, which include suppliers and consultants to the mining industry, coal sales agents and brokers and allied industries. The Ohio Coal Association is committed to advancing the development and utilization of Ohio coal as an abundant, economic and environmentally sound energy source.
